On 22 August 2013, it was announced that Demi Lovato will appear for at least 6 episodes of the fifth season of Glee. She will portray a struggling New York-based artist called Dani who later befriends Rachel Berry and Santana Lopez and later becomes Santana's love interest. Lovato will make her debut during the second episode of season 5.
Demi's song Give Your Heart a Break was also featured in The Break-Up episode, the fourth episode of season 4. It was sung by Rachel Berry and Brody Weston.
