During the production of the fifth album, Demi commented:
Demi: I've already started recording for my new album, and I have plans to record during the tour. The sound just evolves into everything that I've been and everything that I want to become.
I've never been so sure of myself as an artist when it comes down to confidence, but not only personal things but exactly what I want my sound to be and what I know I'm capable of and this album will give me the opportunity to show people what I can really do.
In May 2015, Billboard revealed Lovato was in the process of starting an "artist-centric" new record label, Safehouse Records, of which they will be co-owner. The label will be a partnership between them, Nick Jonas, and Lovato's manager Phil McIntyre, and will form part of a new collaborative arrangement with record label Island.
On June 6, 2015, while headlining at the DigiFest NYC, they revealed to the audiences:
Demi: It’s going to be a real exciting summer for my fans, I cannot wait for you guys to hear some new music.
The song was recorded in Max Martin's production studios Wolf Cousins, formed in Stockholm in 2013. Demi released a video on their official YouTube account on October 10, 2015, explaining the meaning behind the song.
The lyrics have Demi discussing a very sexual summer affair, along with a suggestive music video in which articles of clothing can be seen strewn around a crazy party scene.
The video begins with Lovato cruising with their friends around a city. The scene is intercut with a scene where Lovato, wearing black latex, sings and whips their hair around in an isolated location. The video continues with Lovato and their friends arriving at a party and cuts between a number of scenes showing people on a trampoline, and Lovato dancing and having fun at the party.
